A Good Day for Pie
Happy Friday everyone! It's certainly been a good long while since Free Recipe Friday happened, but I am making it up to you with PIE. Sausage Pie to be exact. Pie that's great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's super duper easy to make and everyone will love it. I got this recipe from my friend and former co-worker Linda Wells. It was her go-to dish for every office celebration we ever had (we twisted her arm to bring it)! The guys loved it, the girls loved it, and you will too.
WHAT YOU NEED:
1 lb. ground sausage (cooked and crumbled) 2 cups shredded cheddar 1 ready made pie crust (uncooked) 2 eggs 1 can evaporated milk
Pie plate
WHAT TO DO: In a medium sized saute pan, brown the sausage.
Smooshing around to crumble it as it cooks. Drain.
While sausage cools a bit, unroll pie crust and place in pie plate and fru fru the edges to your liking. Next, layer the crust with the cheese and then the sausage. In a small bowl, combine eggs and milk and whisk well. Gently pour over the mixture in pie plate
and bake for appx. 45-50 minutes or until center is set and not jiggly
in a 400 degree oven.
Remove and let sit for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This can certainly be made up ahead of time and served hot or cold.
We like ours with a bit of Louisana Hot Sauce running down the sides.
ENJOY!!!
